Solar was commissioned by Sheraton Hotels for the atrium of their hotel in Baohua, Shanghai. It is gracefully balancing on a water feature, so it looks like it is floating.
The form is one of several iterations based on a torus knot, where the edge follows a torus knot that traverses the surface of a torus three times. It was commissioned via and fabricated by Urban Art Projects, who have an amazing team of sheet metalsmiths.
